Clinical Research

At Infectious Disease Associates of Tampa Bay (IDATB), we are proud to participate in leading-edge clinical research programs that help advance treatment for infectious diseases.

Through partnerships and FDA-approved studies, we give our patients early access to innovative therapies and contribute to medical progress across the Tampa Bay area.

Our Affiliation with St. Joseph’s Comprehensive Research

Our affiliation with St. Joseph’s Comprehensive Research gives our patients access to drugs in development to treat various infectious diseases.

This collaboration allows our patients to participate in clinical trials investigating new medications that are not yet publicly available, providing access to next-generation treatments in a closely supervised medical setting.

Infectious Disease Studies and Areas of Research

We have participated in studies of medications for the treatment of HIV, Hepatitis C, treatment and prevention of C diff infections and others.

Our physicians and research team have contributed to studies targeting:

  • HIV / AIDS therapies
  • Hepatitis C antiviral treatments
  • C. difficile prevention and treatment
  • Antimicrobial resistance studies
  • Emerging viral infections and vaccines
  • NTM/MAC Pulmonary disease

Each trial is reviewed by an Institutional Review Board (IRB) and conducted under FDA safety guidelines to ensure the highest standards of care.

How to Join a Clinical Trial

If you have an interest in a clinical trial, discuss this with your provider to see if there is a study available that may meet your needs.

Participation in a clinical trial is voluntary and includes close supervision by an infectious disease specialist.

Patients receive regular check-ins, follow-up testing, and access to medications being evaluated for effectiveness and safety.

If you are interested, speak with your provider or contact IDATB to learn more about current clinical trials available through our network.
