Brief info

Dr. Deepthi Murthy pursued her undergraduate medical training at Osmania University in India, where she received her Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery. Following this, Dr. Murthy obtained her Membership of the Royal College of Physicians in London, United Kingdom. She did an internship at Yale University and completed her Internal Medicine residency at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center in Boston. Afterward, Dr. Murthy moved to Louisiana, where she continued her training in Infectious Diseases at Tulane University.

Dr. Murthy is board certified in Infectious Disease. She is a member of the Infectious Disease Society of America and is a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians. Previously, Dr. Murthy has been a member of antibiotic stewardship committees at both Ochsner Hospital System and West Jefferson Hospital. Additionally, she served as chairperson of the Infection Control Committee at West Jefferson Hospital. She also held a teaching position at Tulane University where she supervised more than 100 medical students rotating in Infectious Diseases over 16 years. Dr. Murthy has conducted multiple presentations and been involved in many research studies.

Prior to moving to Tampa, Dr. Murthy practiced Infectious Diseases in Louisiana, where she has been in a private Infectious Disease consultative practice for 14 years. Her interests include: HIV, infectious complications of surgical procedures, tuberculosis, and atypical mycobacterial infections. Dr. Murthy joined Infectious Disease Associates of Tampa Bay in 2018. She currently holds an appointment as Affiliate Assistant Professor at the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine, Department of Internal Medicine.
