Brief info

Mirian E. Onyebueke is a native of Tampa Bay, she graduated from Hillsborough Community College with an Associate in Science Nursing Degree in 2006. She started her nursing career in 2007 at University Community Hospital in Tampa, and later moved to the Spinal Cord Injury Center at James A Haley VA Medical Center. At the VAH, her primary bedside nursing experience has focused on caring for Spinal Cord injury/disease (SCI) patient at the Medical/ Surgical and Rehabilitation units. Mirian decided to further her education and received a Master of Science in Nursing in 2011 and Doctor of Nursing Practice in 2016 at the University of South Florida.

Mirian is a board certified adult nurse practitioner through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP). As a nurse practitioner, she worked part-time managing geriatric patients with chronic conditions at Chapters Health system PACE (Program for all-inclusive care for the elderly) in Tampa. She later transitioned as a full-time nurse practitioner in the Spinal Cord Injury Center at James A Haley VA Medical Center. She manages Spinal Cord injury (SCI), Multiple Sclerosis (MS), and Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) ventilator patients; she also provides direct medical care for SCI patients seen in the clinic for annual wellness check-up. She works alongside multiple disciplines and assists with the management of wounds and acute infections in SCI population. Additionally, Mirian specializes in Intrathecal baclofen pump therapy for management of muscle spasticity and Chronic pain. She is responsible for analyzing, refilling, and reprogramming Medtronic and Codman intrathecal baclofen pump for SCI, Poly-Trauma and Neuro-Pain patients at James A Haley VA Medical Center.

In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, cooking, and exercising. Mirian joined Infectious Disease Associates of Tampa Bay in 2021.
